Windows and doors

So we have had new doors since last week but we are so busy with trying to make the inside look decent we haven't had time to take pictures. So I went around and did that today. Now the doors aren't done yet. With the front door we have to still put in the two side panel windows that have glass in them. The glass that we picked out they didn't have in the shop so those had to be ordered and to be honest with you I have no idea when they are expected to be here so that they can come and install them. Oh joy! I am glad though that we finally replaced both doors. Living in the house where both doors don't really lock that well wasn't that much fun. We all feel a little more secure and Jake can now stop sleeping on the front landing :)

We also still have to stain them. So no worries....they won't be staying that color. We are going to go with Walnut I believe. I am not sure when that is going to happen but it is in the works....eventually!

The window guys were supposed to be here yesterday to start the install but got held up at another job so they came today. I have to say that they worked very fast. We still have a few windows that they need to come and finish as well as seal all the windows and put screens on them but that will be happening tomorrow when they return. I am so glad that we went with the almond colored windows. Jake originally made the choice but then was thinking back on it and thought that white might pop more but when he saw these up and how well they matched outside he was glad that he picked what he did.

Here is the kitchen window. I couldn't take a before and after because they switched it out so fast.

I also couldn't get a before picture of the front upstairs family room either because again they were to fast for me. I did get them removing the old window though...

I also I guess didn't get one of it finished close up. I was bad on camera duty today because I had to haul E everywhere with me today.

In these next pictures they are of all the other windows before they got switched out. Both me and Jake took turns taking pics and running around.

They are pretty bad looking. I am so glad to be rid of them.

Here are some pictures now of the new windows that we have put in so far.
This is the upstairs main bathroom

Master Bedroom. And I am sorry for the mess on the bed. We were also doing base in the master bathroom as well as replacing that window so all the boxes and junk that needed to go in our cabinet in the bathroom had to be put on our bed. But I have now cleaned off the bed and it looks a little better in the master bedroom. Me and E had to try out how nice they are to slide open and closed.

This is the master bathroom. They didn't do it fogged or whatever you call it because they didn't know it was a bathroom. I actually don't mind at all because it makes it nice and bright in there and we are putting up blinds anyways so it doesn't matter and just gives us better lighting in there.  Natural light is a big deal when you come from living in apartments!

This is one of the guys taking out E's window. I am sure you couldn't tell with the crib there so I wanted to make sure that I clarified :)

Again I guess I didn't get one of his room after it was done. I promise it is done and there isn't a big hole there anymore.

These are pics that Jake took after they left for the day. I hope that you can see the bid change that they made. They also totally match the house and are way more secure then the previous ones that we had in there.

They do still have to come back tomorrow and do some final touches as well as two windows downstairs and the octagon in the front of the house. I am just so in love with them and am so glad they are done....almost!

We had my dad here today helping with finishing the casing upstairs as well as the rest of the base that wasn't finished. We still have the inside of the front door to case around but we can't do that until we do the entry way. We got the back door all cased on the inside and it looks really good. The kitchen almost looks complete. We still have a few details to see to but we are getting around to all those and will be for some time.

I forgot to put pictures of the back door in the beginning of this post with the front door so I will post them now because I really don't feel like editing :)

I didn't get a picture of the doors after they were cased but I will get to it another time. Also I think Jake took this picture :)

Brad also came and dropped off a trailer yesterday so that we could clean up the rest of the garbage that we had laying around so that our house doesn't look like a hurricane blew through it. Jake was out in the poring rain yesterday picking up all the garbage while I took my dads truck back to him that we had to borrow to go and pick up a free grill that Chris and Marce gave us. We are so excited to start grilling. I love stuff on the grill!!!

Updates....

So this post is just going to be a bunch of pictures. I am to exhausted to think of anything to write and I know that you would rather look at pictures then read what I have to say.

Be warned.....there are going to be a lot of pictures!!!

Here is Chris and Marce finishing up the kitchen

My dad laying down the base. He rocked it out in now time. Saved our butts!!!

Kevin and my dad working together on the base

Jake Moving in our first boxes into the kitchen

Our pantries are done....they look great!!!

Carpet finally going down. We got a call Friday afternoon saying that the carpet that I chose was not ordered and that I had to go and look at what they did have in stock so that we could see if it was something that we could live with. They said that if we liked it that we could have it for the same price. I guess it was a bit of an upgrade from what we picked.

We decided to take the carpet that they had in stock. It is a little darker then what I originally picked but we really like it and we needed flooring so we didn't have a lot of a choice. I am just glad that it ended up working out.

This is the master closet. My dad did all the shelving. We love it!!!

This is the master bathroom. We love the way that it turned out. It is very neutral but it really works with the carpet that we have and Brad even added a little design that he had left over from another job. The tile again isn't what I picked out but because it wasn't ordered I had to go with what they had in stock. It works so we were lucky there again.

Bathroom vanities in the main bathroom and the master bathroom. We kept the same bathroom vanity in the main bathroom. Jake had to downsize it and spray paint it. He had to work late the night before the plumbers came the next morning so I totally appreciate all of his hard work. I don't think that you can even tell that he had to cut it down and rebuild it.

Master Bathroom...

Main bathroom sink

These lights are in both the master and main bathroom. Wish we would have changed it up a bit but we didn't have a big selection at Home Depot.

My master shower and tub. I LOVE IT!!!

We got two new toilets. I know it doesn't seem like a big deal but I really am so excited that we have two toilets upstairs and we don't need to go downstairs to the really unfinished bathroom!!!

We can't thank everyone enough for everything that they have done. I don't know how we would have done it all without them. I know that we couldn't have done it by ourselves.
We still have projects going on so don't worry. Now that we have internet at the new house I can hopefully stay on top of things as they are happening instead of dumping all the pictures at one time and letting you make something of all the chaos!!!
