Taking Saturday yard work to a whole new level

So all of Saturday was spent out in the yard. Me and Jake have the sunburns to prove it. Kevin clearly doesn't have a sunburn. He is always out in the sun. Talk about Saturday yard work though. It literally took us all day and we didn't even finish. We got a ton done though and it looks so much better. Since Saturday the rest of what we wanted to get done in the yard we did. My dad came by Saturday night with my mom to check it out (it was my moms first time EVER seeing the house) my dad couldn't believe that the yard could look like it did. He was impressed. Even though I am not in any pictures that I am going to post I promise I was out there with both Kevin and Jake working :) We even had Nater out there helping until Mary came and picked up him and E.

So as you can hopefully see this is what the yard looked like before we started. Some of the pictures are also of some of us working. Needless to say the yard needed a lot of love and TLC. I am proud though of all the hard work that we all did on Saturday to get it where it needed to be. It makes the yard look so much better!!! There was so much trash to pick up. I believe the people before us just used there backyard as there own personal dump. We couldn't believe some of the things that we had to haul off to the garbage. Kevin did come across a baby garden snack under the patio. He caught it and we kept it in the bucket for the day while we continued to work on the lawn. He didn't want to kill it. If it were up to me and Jake we would have killed it and not really cared. We don't like snakes at all. When we were getting ready to take the snake somewhere we found the mom in the next yard close to the bucket where the baby was so Jake went and took care of that one. Lets just say we didn't put her in a bucket to take her somewhere else. Jake and his dad also found a mom mouse and a couple baby mice that they took care of as well that were living in the shed that needs to come down as soon as we get something else to take its place.

The ones of the Shed might look bad with all the crap in front of it but that wasn't even half of what was inside of there. It was nasty. It is all cleaned out though and the yard looks so much better. We still have some trimming to do along the fence where there is a grape vine growing but we will get to that. The yard looks decent now. Kevin and Jake and my dad worked on the sprinklers and I think got them all up and running so I think now we can start watering the lawn and repairing the damage that was done to it with no one taking care of it for the last year and a half. Kevin and my dad said that lawns are very forgiving so we are going to start fertilizing and putting down weed killer and watering and mowing to hopefully restore some of the green. I will let you know how the process goes. We just can't afford to really do anything special with outside right now because all of our money is going to fix up the inside.
