Yard work and master bedroom

So today I took VTO for some of today to get off work so that I could go work on the house. I like working on it because it makes it feel more mine and I want to say that I was able to help demo and put back together my house. It gives me a sense of accomplishment and a little pride knowing I had a hand in the place that we live. I am sure that Jake feels the same way but it is different because he can do more so he has his hand in most things. I usually make all the decisions when I am there. It isn't a bad job but manual labor every once in a while is good as well.

The sub flooring got laid in the kitchen yesterday. I am not sure if I have any pictures but it isn't that big of deal. It is something that we are only putting in the kitchen because my dad said that we would like it better so we just decided to do it. My dad is just smoothing out the walls where the back splash was and then we are pretty much at a stand still for the kitchen until they get the dry wall done. Then we can paint and lay the floor and of course put in all new appliances and kitchen cabinets and drawers.....I am so excited!!!

They framed in our bedroom. I will show you before pictures as well as what it looks like currently but I need to explain a little first. So the house originally had 6 bedrooms. They aren't huge by any means so we needed to figure out something for the master. So we are taking the two bedrooms at the end of the hall and cutting the wall out between them as well as the linen closet to make one big room. In that room we are building a closet as well as a master bathroom. I am soooooo excited about the bathroom!!!

I hope that you can see that these are two rooms and in the next few photos you will see what we have done to make it so much better in my opinion.

Current look....

I had to put a few pictures in of my big bath tub. Clearly you can tell how excited I am. The plumber was there yesterday all day and finished all the plumbing. Even the big leak in the main water line. Now we have running water. Well everything is taken apart so basically the toilet in the downstairs bathroom is now working. That is a good thing because I have been having to hold it while I have been at the house. The guys don't have that problem. 

Today Kevin and my dad worked on getting our sprinklers in working order while me and Jake finished cleaning up and sweeping the downstairs. We moved the washer and dryer out into the basement so that we could sweep and man was it nasty. We don't get how people can live like that. I just want to take out the washer and dryer and hose them down because they are so dirty and yucky.

Once we got that done we went and joined our dads outside and as they tested the sprinklers me and Jake were walking around marking the sprinklers with wood pieces so we knew what valves went to what sprinklers. I guess we have like 5 valves in the front yard and we aren't sure why because they aren't all required for such a small place in the front. In testing them it looks like 2 of the valves don't work and one was running water somewhere but we couldn't figure out where to so not really sure what is going on there. Tomorrow we will be testing the back ones. I am not sure how far they go back but I guess that we will see. I think that we might have more valves in the back as well but when I left tonight Jake and his dad were just going to the back to dig it all up so that we could get started on that tomorrow.

Over all it was a very productive day and I am exhausted. I am looking forward to tomorrow though and it getting more done. I love looking forward to each day and seeing more and more get done. I wish that it were moving faster because I am getting so excited for the day that everything is done and we get to move in!!!
